I make these cards one at a time and no two are alike.
These cards are so unique that we don't sell them in any retail outlet. These cards are available only through the website and at craft fairs throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio.
I am the thankful, joyful adult survivor of a congenital heart defect. While many people know about adult onset heart disease there are very few who fully understand a congenital defect. They are defects from birth. They are not something that happened as a result of choices.
At the time I was born the outlook for me and the many others who suffer from heart defects was very grim. We had surgeries to "patch" things up but there were no real fixes. We are the pioneers that now make it possible for children born today to have surgeries and live completely normal lives.
Although I had many surgeries as a child and multiple procedures as an adult I lead a completely normal life until I hit the age of 35. This is when the "patches" began to quit working and the new procedures developed to fix these problems in children were not something I could tolerate. My physical abilities began to decline but I loved to create things and give them to my friends and family. I developed this line of cards for two reasons 1) I love to do this 2) I want to give back to allow the research to continue to make these defects as treatable as the common cold and also to the associations who help us pioneers deal with the struggles that come from these defects. As a result a portion of the proceeds from each card will be donated to the Adult Congenital Heart Association.
The Adult Congenital Heart Association is fundamental in educating adults about the issues that they may face as they get older. They also offer a support group for individuals who are facing problems and want to talk to someone who understands, like no one else, what they are going through. These are examples of the cards that I make. Please remember that these are just examples. All cards are unique and no one will ever match identically to another. At your request I will make every attempt to make the cards as similar as possible.
